My Top 5 Country Albums of All Time
Feb 19, 2008 by Nick
1. Red Headed Stranger – Willie Nelson
2. Johnny Cash-At Folsom Prison
3. Buck Owens-Carnegie Hall Concert With His Buckaroos
4. Loretta Lynn-Van Lear Rose
5. Steve Earle-Guitar Town
Feel free to comment on these choices or add some of your favorite country albums. If you are planning on adding an album by Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Trace Adkins, Shania Twain or any other mainstream country artist, don’t bother. They all suck and so do the people who would buy their albums.
Later,
Nick

I was just going to ask where your love for Garth Brooks, Reba McIntyre and Taylor Swift was. We all have friends in low places, we all wonder why the lights went out in Georgia, and I know there is a little part of us that remembers something special when a Tim McGraw song comes on the radio.
I have to agree with Johnny Cash, but where is your tribute to Patsy Cline?
I’m still awaiting your thoughts on Blue Oyster Cult…
While I don’t feel that I have quite the knowledge base to either agree nor disagree I will say that the Van Lear Rose pick was “a sly declaration of new classic status slipped into a bunch of safe ones- very pussy!”
I couldn’t agree with you more Josh; you don’t have the requisite knowledge base (I do however love the HF reference). Here are my five.
Bob Dylan- Nashville Skyline
Buck Owens and his Buckaroos- I’ve got a tiger by the tail
Ryan Adams- Heartbreaker
Gram Parsons- GP/Grievous Angel
Johnny Cash- Live at Folsom
