RM Shuffle for November 4th 2009

I bet you were wondering what kind of music I have been listening to lately. I don’t blame you for wondering. My iPod is busting at the seams with incredible music and the least I could do is give you a small taste of what is on it. Hopefully you will check out a few of these songs and maybe you will like a couple and even support some of these artists by purchasing their music. Most likely you will ignore the list turn on your local classic rock station and crank up Freebird for the 1000th time in your life. With that being said here are 15 songs that have been in heavy rotation over the past few weeks.

Dear Mr. Fantasy(Live)- Steve Winwood
This is a bonus cut on his 2003 album About Time

Even If It Breaks Your Heart-Will Hoge
First song I heard off of his fantastic new album The Wreckage

Single Girl, Married Girl-Levon Helm
From his 2007 album Dirt Farmer. I don’t think I need to say anymore it is Levon effin Helm.

Wheels-Foo Fighters
This song was made to be played on Modern Rock Radio

(What’s So Funny Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding(Live)- The Atari’s
Don’t particularly like this band but I do love this song and their version is pretty cool

Oh Sweet Nuthin’(Live)-The Black Crowes
Great Velvet Underground cover recorded at the Ryman in Nashville

Help Is On The Way-The Little River Band
Save your comments I love this song

Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way-John Mellencamp
Nice version of a classic Waylon Jennings song.

When I Paint My Masterpiece- The Band
Great version of the Bob Dylan song. This version is played in the opening of the Seth Rogen movie Observe and Report.

Call Back-Truth & Salvage Company
Brand new band that is currently opening up for The Black Crowes on tour. One of the members is from Indianapolis.

Joe Pug- Hymn #101
Fantastic new singer/songwriter out of Chicago. Saw him open up for Steve Earle this summer and was instantly hooked.

Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise-The Avett Brothers
I could have actually listed this entire album. One of the best albums I have heard this year and this song is one of my favorites.

See the Light-Green Day
I have been listening to their latest album on and off since it came out earlier this year and this song is my favorite for now. That will change sooner than later.

Lochloosa-Mofro
Just caught this band live about a month ago and this song was the highlight of the night. The crowd sang every word. On a sidenote I also saw Shooter Jennings that night and he owes me $10.00 for sitting through his shit laden set of music.

Bluebird-Ryan Bingham
This is the best artist you have never heard of. I cannot say enough good about this guy. He has released 2 stellar albums and put on one of the best live shows I saw all year. Go buy his music and thank me later.

There you have it. The 15 songs that have my attention right now. I will try and give you a new list of 15 songs every month. I sincerely hope you check these songs out and find at least one you like.

Later,
Nick
