Album of the Minute – Toadies – Rubberneck

With hits like “Possum Kingdom” and “I Come from the Water” the Toadies have had their fair share of mainstream success. That’s not why I chose Rubberneck as my Album of the Minute, I chose it mostly because this album beats ass, especially Happy Face – that song gets me pumped to take on the day. Rubberneck boasts heavy guitars, driving drums and true musicianship. But most importantly Vaden Todd Lewis’ vocals and lyrics make this an album deserving of any rock/grunge enthusiast’s collection. Pick up this album if you’re a fan of Soundgarden or obvious influences for the band such as the Pixies or Cheap Trick.

If you’re a fan of Rubberneck you may want to check out Hell Below/Stars Above and No Deliverance, the band 2008 release. Also the band broke up from about 2001-2005 during that time Vaden Todd Lewis and Reverend Horton Heat drummer Taz Bentle formed the Burden Brothers. This band is great and very much in the style of the Toadies. Check them out if you’ve got a Toadies itch you just can’t scratch. You won’t be disappointed.
