		<description>Interesting essay. I agree with you on many points. I actually started off a Mellencamp fan before I became Springsteen die hard. I would agree that Mellencamp is probably right on par with Springsteen from 80&#039;s to now. But Mellencamp has never produced two albums as good as Born to Run or Darkness on The Edge of Town. Those twos albums (along with maybe Nebraska) are among the best rock albums EVER! Mellencamp will always play second fiddle because his best is simply a great notch below Springsteen&#039;s best. Plus Springsteen came first. Springsteen has forever been in the shadow of Bob Dylan its just how it works. Personally the better comparison is John Mellencamp vs. Eddie Vedder.</description>
