Browsing the Dave's More Rockin' category...

It’s finally here the end of 2009. Nick mentioned in his article last week that I may do a “More Rockin’” best of the 2000’s and that’s exactly what I have in store for you. A list of 10 albums I especially liked from the last 10 years. I wouldn’t take this as a “best of” type list, more of a “music I listened to while driving places and working” type list. There were a few albums on Nick’s list that I wanted to include on my list but I decided to omit them and give you 10 fresh albums that I feel sum up what I’ve been listening to for the last 10 years. So here goes, in no particular order.

10. Tenacious D – Tenacious D

This album gets the wrap of a “comedy album” but it’s far from that, albeit it is humorous in nature but there is some great musicianship on this album. Produced by the Dust Brothers and accompanied by greats such as Dave Grohl this album holds its own as a great rock album.

Here’s your Christmas present from Rock Minutes… I saw this on Attack of the Show, a show on G4. It’s a glam-rock parody Christmas song by Chris Hardwick of all people. Enjoy.

I’ve seen well over a hundred bands in my short time on Earth and in that time I’ve seen some things at shows that piss me off. Here are a few guidelines to follow when going to a show.

Don’t wear a band shirt for the band you’ve come to see. This is a pretty common rule and it just makes sense. I’ve heard people argue this rule and say it’s like going to a sporting event and that’s how you support the band. You’re supporting the band by being there and you can support them even more by buying a shirt at the show.

First things first. Nick’s a dick. I find it real interesting that when provided with an open forum to discuss his thoughts on music he wastes an entire column to bash me. (Nick’s Article “Dave Sucks”) Firstly, I’ll defend myself by saying the that Nick wants to berate me for some guilty pleasures after writing an entire article on the subject. Secondly, everything he mentioned that I “like” is not even on my Zune, whereas all of his not-so guilty pleasures and are locked and loaded in his iPod. I know for fact that Nick needs to hear Nickleback’s “Rockstar” in order to carpe diem, which he shockingly left off his guilty pleasures list. Hmmm, interesting?

Hi, I’m Dave, the better half, of what is currently the Rock Minutes duo. Until now I have been behind the scenes, but it’s time for me to come out of the shadows for my weekly session known as “Dave’s More Rockin’”. This is the area of Rock Minutes where I will cover things that I consider to be more rockin’; you’ll find this is the area where Nick and I differ. I tend to go more this direction and he tends to sway a little softer and we meet in the middle. Without the middle we would absolutely hate each other whereas right now we just strongly dislike each other. Click to read more …
